Soul is what makes us whole
And so we come to the last in Bill’s four-part series on Body, Mind, Heart and Soul. This week he talks about what set us apart from other living creatures – our soul.
IF YOU study philosophy or religion, you come to the understanding that human beings are four dimensional- body, mind, heart, and soul. It’s what makes us different from every other creature on the planet.
In the book, ‘Soul Cravings’ by Erwin Raphael McManus, he says that we strive for success, significance, look for purpose, and dream of our destiny. He goes on to say that we have a longing to make a difference in the lives of others.
Personally, I can identify with Erwin’s assertions. Stephen Covey also identifies 3 ways to develop the soul:
- Integrity– Being true to ones highest values and conscience
- Meaning– A sense of contribution to people and causes
- Voice– aligning work with one’s unique calling and gifts
One of the most rewarding things for me in both personal and business life, is watching people, including my kids, find what it is that they excel at and really grow and develop a passion for what they do.
At the end of the day, part of life’s journey is to understand why we are here and even contemplate how we got here. This capability of trying to understand what it all means is what makes us different. No matter what your beliefs are, take the time to explore your spiritual self, it’s what makes us whole.
