A Box of Good Habits: the Habit Project

I was very excited to pick up my package of The Habit Project cold pressed juices last week for a one day cleanse.

Habit box closed

When I opened the box I felt like a kid in a candy store…well, not quite.  The idea of having only juices for one whole day seemed a daunting task for me.  Anybody who knows me knows I like my food.  But a new year means I’m trying to develop new and healthy habits.  I’ve always wanted to try a cleanse and this one seemed perfect one developed by two local girls.

Habit box note

Long story short…it wasn’t only packed all pretty…it was a pretty perfect cleanse packed with goodness.  Along with the colorful and fittingly named bottles of juices came a cleanse guide including a recommended juice order, information on a social cleanse community and I even got a personalized note of encouragement written on my box!

Feeling inspired, the next morning I would begin the cleanse.

After drinking water in the morning I started with a bright orange bottle of Amber (carrot, lemon & ginger), this was a great way to start the day, I loved the kick of ginger.

Next was Jade (apple cucumber, celery, romaine, spinach, lime) sorry Jade…you fall to the bottom 3 according to my taste buds.

Then Opal ( filtered water, orange, turmeric, lemon and chia seeds) which was perhaps my favorite…so refreshing and substantial.

Followed by bright green Emerald (kale, spinach, cucumber, lemon, pear, parsley, mint & cilantro) yum and beautiful red Ruby (apple, carrot, beet, lemon) which tasted like liquid beets…delicous.  These two had great color and flavor and were among my favorites.

Finishing the day with warmed nut mylk Ivory (almonds, filtered water, dates, vanilla bean, cinnamon, himalayan salt) which made me feel cozy and satisfied.

What a great way to cleanse!!!  I didn’t go hungry, the juices tasted great and were loaded with nutrients that were anti-oxidizing, anti-inflaming, immune boosting, alkalizing, energizing, cleansing, strengthening and rejuvenating me all day long.  It was a cleanse I felt good about: knowing all the benefits those juices were providing.

I must confess though…by the end of the day I had a dull headache…but I blame myself for that because I know I did not drink very much water that day…I was so busy drinking all that juice.

Will I do this The Habit Project cleanse again?  You bet…but I will be sure to drink more water throughout the day.  And even if I’m not doing the cleanse I can always order individual bottles of my favorites…check it out on-line.

Thanks Danielle & Mariah…you’ve got a good thing going!
