Resolution #2 – Mind

Here is what is on my MIND…as in BODY, MIND, HEART & SOUL

Last week I touched on resolutions involving my BODY, and so far so good, I’ve been to yoga, saw my trainer, went for a run and hit the gym…phew.

This week we’re touching on MIND…not saying I’m touched in the head although at times I might seem a little crazy…anyways, I’ll share one resolution I have made to keep my mind sharp.

One of my resolutions for 2015 is committing to reading 10 or more non-fiction books.  I do like to read but generally I gravitate towards novels, junior fiction, historical fiction and even kids picture books :).
Non – fiction doesn’t always grab my attention or keep me engaged.

So why commit to this resolution; because I’ve got so much to learn and books are a great place to start. I don’t just want to read non-fiction, I want to learn from it, gain knowledge and insight and be inspired to change and grow because of it.

The first non-fiction book I’ve completed for 2015 is Laura Hillenbrand’s Unbroken, the story of Louis Zamperini’s survival, resilience and redemption. And wow…I can tick of all the reasons I just listed above for reading non-fiction.  I was awed and inspired by ‘the Zamp’ and I appreciate this quote about setting goals, dreaming big, being prepared and overcoming obstacles:

I feel like a winner too, having read the book…now onto my next pick: Essentialism by GregMcKeown.
