Thoughts on Motherhood
When I was asked to contribute a blog post on being a new mom, one of my first thoughts was oh boy (literally in this case), where to start with such a life changing event? Well, I’ll start from the beginning – it was an early Saturday morning on January 24, 2015 when my baby boy named Isaac James entered the world.
It was love at first sight. The moment my sweet baby was born, I forgot about all of the pain that I was in (temporarily of course), and I was filled with love as I gazed at him. Truth be told, I loved him before he was even born, but seeing him in that moment really hit me. I couldn’t stop staring at his beautiful perfect face and tiny hands and feet.
Being a new mom is a crazy whirlwind of learning to breastfeed, countless diaper changes, sleepless nights, endless laundry, and the list goes on. By the way – thanks mom! – I have a new-found appreciation for what it took to raise me. It’s not an easy job being a mom, and I certainly have some good and some bad days, but I love it. It’s amazing seeing my little boy grow and his smiles melt my heart. Even his pouty face is so darn cute!
Everyone always says that babies change so fast, so enjoy the newborn cuddles now. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the busyness of everything, but I try to remind myself to pause and take in every moment of his precious life. Speaking of that, time to get back to cuddling the little guy!
