Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is happening this weekend…whether you like it or not.

It was originally a day for lovers to celebrate romantic love but I appreciate that it’s all encompassing now….everyone gets in on the action and we celebrate love in general.  Not just mushy love but platonic love…love between friends, siblings, parents and children, classmates, colleagues, family, etc.

I know it’s a money grab as you can buy a card for everyone including Tom, Dick and Harry and why just buy a card when there is heart shaped stuff (crap) everywhere.

But we don’t need to get sucked into the consumer vortex…we just need to share some love.

I’m sure some people cringe when Feb 14th comes around, a painful reminder of loves lost, loves not yet found, unrequited love, betrayal, broken promises, broken relationships and broken hearts.

This Valentine’s Day I want to remember that it’s not just about me being showered with chocolates and flowers but it’s about celebrating love…not just for the ‘happy couple’ but everyone else too.

So share the love this Valentines Day because… “What the world needs now, is love sweet love, it’s the only thing that there’s just too little of”
