Winter Wedding

This past weekend Bill and I attended a beautiful and intimate family wedding.  It was the wedding of his brother Jesse and his new bride MJ.  Jesse is the brother with 4 children who lost his first wife Helen after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer almost 2 years ago.  Helen was amazing and will forever be missed and no doubt she is missed most deeply by her children and those closest to her.  But I trust that she is smiling down from heaven when she sees Jesse and his new bride.  It’s not an easy task marrying a widower with 4 children but MJ did something at the wedding that demonstrated she is committed to not just Jesse but his whole family.  Before making her vows to Jesse she turned to his 4 children and spoke words of affirmation and love, letting them know she does not intend to try and replace their mother but promised to love and support them and their father on life’s journey.  My eyes teared up and I thought, life’s journey is never easy and for some it seems a little bumpier than for others but I think when we have our faith and when we love and support one another on the journey it sure makes it a lot more manageable.
